Ocean Terminals Sequestration Facility
The Halifax Port Authority Sequestration Facility at Ocean Terminals is an approved location for the disposal of pyritic slate. Each prospective contractor must retain an independent consultant to conduct a series of environmental testing prior to the Halifax Port Authority accepting material.
The Generator noted in the Disposal of Pyritic Slate or Inert Construction Material Agreement (below) shall be the Contractor responsible for the site excavation and delivery of materials to the Sequestration Facility, no other entity associated with a project will be accepted as the Generator.
Generators are allowed one extension on an approved contract for no more than 10% of the tonnage of the existing contract. This will also require additional environmental samples to ensure that the slate meets environmental regulations.
