Port of Halifax to Hold Inaugural One Port City Day
August 25, 2022, Halifax, Nova Scotia – Come join in the fun as we celebrate our very first One Port City Day. This community event takes place Saturday, September 10, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the historic Halifax Seaport.
“Community engagement and involvement is very important to all of us in the Port of Halifax community,” said Captain Allan Gray, President and CEO, Halifax Port Authority. “One Port City Day is an opportunity to introduce the broader community to our working waterfront and bring the port and our community together as One Port City.”
There will be plenty of fun activities for children of all ages including face painting, bouncy castles, concessions, live music, and keg bowling. Everyone is invited to join in the festivities and learn more about the career pathways and opportunities within the port community. The event will feature boat displays and exhibits from port partners including CN, PSA Halifax, Atlantic Pilotage Authority, Atlantic Towing, Canadian Coast Guard, Miawpukek Horizon Maritime Services (Polar Prince), Commissionaires, Halifax Employers Association, Halifax Police, and many more. It will also have interactive displays from Seaport District tenants and community members including the Africville Heritage Society, Garrison Brewing, Discovery Centre, and others. The Dockside Shops at Pavilion 22 will open for the day, selling regionally handcrafted products. The PIER (Port Innovation, Engagement and Research) will open the doors to its living lab and offer guided tours. Halifax Port Authority planners will be available to talk about the 50-Year Plan. Due to traffic considerations and limited parking, people are asked to consider transit, active transportation, or car pooling as part of their planning process for the day.
We would like to recognize and thank our many sponsors, without whom this inaugural event would not be possible. Special thanks to CN and PSA Halifax for their generous support.
