Port of Halifax welcomes Green Marine conference delegates
June 4, 2024
The Port of Halifax warmly welcomes delegates from across North America attending this week’s GreenTech conference in Halifax hosted by Green Marine. During their stay, delegates will be touring Halifax Port Authority (HPA) facilities and hearing from HPA experts at the conference on sustainable port operations and green corridor shipping.
“The Port has been a Green Marine participant since 2011,” said Captain Allan Gray, President & CEO of the Halifax Port Authority. “Green Marine aligns with our approach to sustainability by focusing on continuous improvement using transparent metrics, and by challenging ourselves and our industry to demonstrate leadership.”
“This is the 17th edition of our conference and the first time it is being held in Halifax,” added David Bolduc, President of Green Marine. “I am pleased to report that we have a new attendance record! We are very impressed by the response of the local maritime community, which is obviously very engaged in sustainability and environmental matters.”

About Green Marine
Founded in 2007, the Green Marine environmental certification program is the result of a voluntary effort by the shipping industry in North America to go beyond regulations. More than 185 ship owners, ports, terminals, and shipyards throughout Canada and the United States are currently participating in the program. Launched in 2020, Green Marine Europe currently has 26 ship owners, representing a large and diverse maritime fleet of more than 500 vessels, and three major shipyards in the program. Incorporated in May 2024, Green Marine International is the governance structure overseeing both environmental certification programs. For more information www.green-marine.org.
