Rare opportunity for waterfront retail space in the Halifax Seaport District

September 9, 2021, Halifax, Nova Scotia – The ongoing transformation of the Halifax Seaport District has created a rare opportunity for waterfront retail space. The Halifax Port Authority is seeking experienced operators to submit Expressions of Interest (EOI) to lease shop fronts at ‘The PIER’ in the Halifax Seaport. There are up to seven ground floor shop fronts at The PIER for lease that range in size from approximately 450 square feet up to 3,200 square feet (if merged). There is also large patio space available adjacent to these spaces.

‘The PIER’ is one of the premiere locations on the historic Halifax Waterfront. The building is an anchor within the Halifax Seaport and is being developed to serve a much larger role in this expanding district. In early 2021, the Halifax Port Authority announced major changes to the Halifax Seaport District. ‘The PIER’ (Port Innovation, Engagement and Research) will soon reopen as a living lab and collaborative workspace for the transportation sector. Several partners have already been announced including CN, PSA Halifax, IBI Group, OMC International, Saab, and the Halifax Port Authority.

Over the past 15 years, the Halifax Seaport District has been transformed from a collection of old warehouses to a vibrant gathering place which is home to a successful array of local artisans and retailers including the Canadian Museum of Immigration at Pier 21, Garrison Brewing, the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design Port Campus and the Halifax Seaport Farmers’ Market.
