Schedule of public viewing locations for Queen Mary 2 departure from Halifax

August 9, 2017, Halifax, NS – An evening sail away for the Queen Mary 2 is scheduled to take place in the Port of Halifax.

Following a day of celebrations commemorating the Third Annual Samuel Cunard Prize for Vision, Courage and Creativity to former Prime Minister Paul Martin on August 10, 2017, a special sendoff will take place in Halifax harbour in recognition of Canada 150.

The Queen Mary 2 will depart the Halifax Seaport at 6:00 p.m. August 10, 2017. The attached chart provides highlights of the Queen Mary 2 departure route, which is a counter clockwise tour of the harbour. She will meet up with an escort company including Theodore Tugboat, Tugboat Atlantic Spitfire, and HMCS Summerside. A 21 Gun Salute by HMCS Acadia Cadets (Atlantic Cadets) will take place shore side from the wharf of the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic where music will be provided by the Naval Reserve Band.

The sail pass will take approximately 60 minutes, beginning at 6:00 p.m. This is an excellent opportunity to see the Queen Mary 2 in all her glory as the vessel pays tribute to the historic connection between Cunard and Halifax.
